Hi, I’m John.  I am a commercial and editorial photographer specializing in lifestyle, fashion, and beauty imagery.  I enjoy telling stories with pictures of people.

My journey in the visual and performing arts began during my youth.  I grew up on the banks of the Tennessee River, in an area of northern Alabama best known for its legendary recording studios and its ample fresh water.  The grandson of a boat builder, I spent most of my free time splashing around in the latter.  Though, whenever my feet were on dry land, I was either creating or performing.  I persuaded friends to pose for portraits or star in short films.  This carried through my formal education, eventually earning a BA in Theatre.  It was a pivotal directing class that lit the spark in me that would solidify my transition from performer to creative.  I have been making pictures and telling stories ever since, and have had the pleasure of doing so for clients since picking up the camera professionally in 2009.

My love for being in, on, and near the water continues to this day and has led me to the shores of Miami, where I live with my wife, Erin, and our daughter, Emilia.  (You may even see water make an appearance in my work from time to time.)

These days, when not working on a project, I can be found scribbling in my notebook, playing guitar for an audience of two, debating the intricacies of life with a kindergartner, or predictably, somewhere near the water.
